“The Heart of Test” in E-Mobility: Reusable Test Rack for Fast, Reliable Validation of Complex Components in the Automotive Industry

The customer's problem

E-mobility components are becoming increasingly complex, both electrically and functionally. Development departments must quickly test a wide variety of variants under high-voltage conditions, reliably integrate bus data communication and run reproducible environmental simulations. At the same time, requirements for data security, occupational safety and standards-compliant documentation are increasing. Therefore, a scalable test infrastructure is needed that is quickly ready for use, flexibly supports different test specimens and integrates existing climate, shock or vibration systems without any disruption in the workflow.

Solution by AUCOTEAM

With its modular test rack, “The Heart of Test,” AUCOTEAM provides a turnkey platform that combines electrical power up to 1,500 volts and 6,000 amps, HV and LV power supplies, standardized data acquisition and integrated safety functions. Interfaces to CAN, LIN, and SENT, as well as a GUI with time-synchronized recording, ensure transparent results and rapid commissioning. External units such as climate chambers, cooling water conditioners, valves or shakers are controlled directly from the rack. This allows product test campaigns—for example, on HV heaters, connectors or hydraulic pumps—to be launched without the time-consuming design of new test benches. The system was unveiled at the Automotive Testing Expo Europe in 2025 and is available for purchase, rent or on-demand booking.

Key Features of the AUCOTEAM Solution

  • End-to-end safety: Fully integrated high-voltage safety chain, including insulation monitoring, smoke and temperature detection, and safe shutdown.
  • Data sovereignty and traceability: Continuous, time-stamped data logging with a standardized interface, optional bus simulation and secure access.
  • High reusability: One rack for many test objects. Switching between component classes—such as HV heaters up to 45 kW with 18 kW cooling capacity, HV connectors up to 1,000 V and 6,000 A per path, or hydraulic pumps up to 60 kW—is achieved via defined modules and connection packages.
  • Fast campaign start: Bring-your-own-product (BYOP) principle, short setup times, scalable from lab pilot to series validation. Options include rental, on-site deployment at the customer’s location, use in the AUCOTEAM lab or operation by the customer themselves.

Standards and environmental simulation: Integration into existing climate tests, corrosion, solar simulation, vibration and IP tests. Validations according to LV124, MBN, Volvo-STD, or VW 80000 can be performed in conjunction with the laboratory facilities.
